The wicked pony sculpture is based on an unfortunate real-life event that Frederic Remington had witnessed. The statue features a cowboy thrown to the ground. He is gripping the horse's ear with one hand as the upset creature retaliates by kicking the fallen rider with his hind legs. The sculpture is cast using the lost wax bronze casting method and features intricate hand-forged details. The piece is finished by applying a beautiful brown fire-applied patina and it is then mounted on a marble base.
