Eric Dowdle first saw it when he was seven years old. There was something special to him about the movie even after only one viewing. He identified with the puppet-turned-little boy but was too young to know why. He just knew that he loved him. His parents had bought him a Pinocchio bank doll. Throughout his childhood, it was his prized possession. He kept it through high school. Starting this project 44 years later, he sat down and watched it again. It had an unbelievable impact on him. He cried openly. Eric knew right away what he wanted to capture in his painting.
